Born and raised in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Jonathan Murray is a photographer and painter who currently lives and creates in York, PA. He studied at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design as well as at Speos, The Paris Photographic Institute. From these institutions he grasped the concepts of film photography and printing and he has begun an exploration with color mixing and acrylic painting.
Jonathan has a love for black and white prints and their ability to evoke an emotion without the need of eye-catching color. His photographic narratives will invite you to take a little journey as you wander within the images. The subtle grainy presence in his photographs may not be immediately noticed but is sure to contribute to the mood.
In stark contrast to his black and white photography, Jonathan has begun creating brilliantly colored acrylic paintings. The whimsical and assaulting colors on these canvases has been the perfect outlet for him to express, quite wonderfully, what’s been on his mind and in his heart.
